Cards For Heros

I've seen on a couple of different blogs about Cards for Heros, I always think it sounds like such a great and easy way to support our troops but sadly I never get around to actually making and sending the cards...I am glad to have friends that are more motivated then me :) ! A friend decided to collect a bunch of cards and send them in and asked for any donations. She mentioned there was a need for holiday cards, so here was my contribution.
I wanted to make something that would be simple and easy to mass produce. I loved how this card sparkled...oops did I say sparkle....I forgot on my friends blog there was a mention not to use any glitter or rhinestones, or basically any form of holiday "bling" because it can mess with the heat vision goggles, and also make soldiers stand out...so I modified the card and took away the Dazzling Diamond glitter, I liked the original better but I understand the reasons...so here is my non-shiny version
I wish you could see the dimension a little better, the Baja Breeze cs is popped out with dimensionals kindof shadowboxing the snowflake. I used craft cs for my base and embossed my sentiment in Winter White ep. I absolutely LOVE this cute little snowflake punch...I see myself putting that little cutie to work on alot of Christmas cards and tags. Thanks for stopping by!

The Hostess with the MOSTEST!

We had our monthly Stampin Up Club night a few days ago (scroll down to see the projects), and our hostess for this month completely outdid herself!! Look at the AMAZING treats she brought to share...EVERYONE loved them of course...Lauree you are too crafty girl!!

She made these adorable treat bags filled with a great mixture of dried fruit, nuts, cereal squares..really I don't know all that was in there only that it was so good! Then she also made these super cute Caramel Apple kits!

Yeah, we loved it all!!

Trick or Treat Stamp Nite

Wow, it has been awhile since I have posted, its been kindof crazy at my house but hopefully the crazy has settled down and I'll have a little more time to stamp and post because there is probably a million ideas of cards and scrapbook pages and holiday crafts that I want to try out~!
Last week was time once again for my Stamp Club. I mentioned before that I {heart} Halloween and so I decided to have a "Trick or Treat" theme, all of our projects were different ideas to share treats...
Our first project was this cute little bat...we covered a york peppermint paddy with a few punched out pieces of paper..seriously SO SIMPLE! And so CUTE! we used the Scallop, the Photo Corners, the 1 1/4 Circle, and the 1 3/8 Circle punches
For our next project we used the new Pillow Box die from Stampin Up! I love how easy these dies are to use, in no time flat you have a great treat for classrooms, sports teams, handouts really anything!! We used Tangerine Tango cs for the box, and the new Kiwi Kiss ribbon, for our tag we used a stamp from "Eat Drink and Be Scary" available now in the new Holiday Mini Catalog. To get the variety of color we colored on the stamp with old olive, pumpkin pie and basic black stampin write markers.
And for our final project we made a boxy bag...you'll find a great tutorial on how to make this bag yourself HERE. I loved how this turned out, I started with and Perfect Plum cs base, and embellished with Ghostly Greetings dsp from Stampin Up. A little more ribbon and a brad finished off this cute box.
I hope the girls had fun and enjoyed making their projects...see you next month!

Halloween Treat Bag

So, I am getting so excited for Halloween this year...Halloween is not usually my favorite holiday but for some reason this year I can't wait for it to come. Maybe part of that is the fact that there is SO much cute Halloween stuff EVERYWHERE! From paper and embellishments to fabric and home decor...I love it all! Anyway I got this cute stamp set from the new Stampin Up mini catalog...only a few more days until you can order....anyway I am always looking for ways to make little treat bags, between my son's various sports, my little girl's dance class, and school we always have a need for small easy to assemble treat bags!
This box was actually pre-scored and ready to assemble when I got them, a package of like 30 for 1 dollar at the scrapbook expo last week. So I just added the ribbon and a little tag for the front, I found this glitter also in a dollar bin the black was a little "too" chunky, but oh well it will work until my Chunky Glitter from Stampin Up arrives! Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!

Cosmo's anyone??

Have you seen this movie yet?? I did and I loved it, my sister is definately a "New Yorker" and the movie makes me think of her and the life she lives...she always has something going on and I love to hear her stories! Anyway she just got a new apartment and I wanted to send her a card to let her know how excited I was for her and what better way to celebrate than with a "cosmopolitan" so here's to my sister! I wish I could have figured out how to photograph this card a little better, all the pink is glitter and man does it sparkle!! The martini is actually a vinyl sticker~isn't it fun?? Okay I am signing out, but thanks for stopping by and if you haven't had a chance to catch Sex in the City, swing by redbox tonight...it was released yesterday!!

Happy Birthday WSC#58

Look at this, two weeks in a row and I am actually making a card for Beate's WSC wow! I can't even believe it, and scroll down too because you'll see I played in another challenge too! I rock!! Just kidding, I am really not quite that cocky, but I am proud I was able to create a few cards this weekend. This card I made for a friend of mine who is having a birthday tomorrow~HAPPY BIRTHDAY B!!~ I wanted to use black white and red as a color combo and I've had this great paper from Scenic Route laying around so that was my inspiration...the hard part was deciding which sides of the paper to use...I hate when double sided paper is equally cute on each side!! :) Anyway this card was really simple not too much stamping, only the sentiment which I stamped on the inside. I hope she likes it and I hope you do too...thanks for looking!

Challenge Minus the Cupcake...

Have you checked out this BLOG yet? Taylor issues a cupcake challenge each week, and this week I thought I would play along...now you don't have to use cupcakes, and as you can see I didn't but I liked this sketch so much, I just might make another one...a little "sweeter"!

I just got a few new things from Stampin Up and I was so excited to use them...I LOVE the vintage kindof old fashiony (is that a word?) feel of this new stamp set Winter Post
~available OCT 1~ I colored the image with my Aqua-painters using Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, and Red Riding Hood classic ink pads. The paper, Ski Slope, is also in the mini, can I just say I LOVE this paper...I thought it was great in the catty, but in real life oh, I am going to be needing lots of this!
The brad is from the Filigree Brad assortment and I have to laugh when I tell you about the ribbon, first have you ever worn a hoodie sweatshirt or jacket and have the strings just get in the way?? Well my kids always pull on them and then one side is longer than the other and bla bla...anyway to make my long story a little shorter I had a brown jacket and I took the string out of the hoodie because it was driving me nuts, but I couldn't let it go to waste and so yep that is the ribbon I added to my card...perfect color and texture and everything! I know I am wierd...but who hasn't looked in odd places to find the just right embellishment?
Thanks for stopping by!

Kristina's Color Challenge #23

Woosh, I almost missed this one, but I am sliding in with a few minutes to spare. Aren't these flowers amazing? I think they are so pretty and look like fall! Here is my take on the colors this week...
I started off with a So Saffron as my base, and then cut strips in Bravo Burgundy, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie, I ran them through my Cuttlebug in embossing templates to give them a little texture, and then sponged the edges in Chocolate Chip. I stamped my sentiment on Very Vanilla, and added those cute flowers, the final touch was to tie my knot with 5/8 inch Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon. So there you have it...Thanks for looking!
You can click on the picture to take you to Kristina's website and check out all the other entries!
**Edited to add** The stamp set I used for this card is THIS one from Papertrey.

Thanks Again!

Happy Wednesday! Are you having a great week? I have just a quick post today...lots of things on my to-do list, but I thought I would show you these cards I threw together with some scraps on my scrapbook table! For a super simple card, I thought they turned out alright! Thanks for stopping by!

I had a strip of this cute design paper, so I cut it to fit my cards (standard 4 1/4x5 1/2) I added the strip of color, edged with my Scallop Edge punch, and added my sentiment from Much Appreciated. A little chocolate chip ribbon, and DONE! So fast, so simple, so cute!

Card Kit for a Friend

Good Morning,
Can you believe its Monday already?! That's okay for me though because it means I am only a few more days away from the Scrapbook Expo...I am so excited, this event comes twice a year and is a great way to drain the pocketbook!!! I love to go see all the new ideas, and best of all take advantage of all the great deals!
This weekend I went to a farewell party for a coworker that is leaving to Germany for 18 months, she had mentioned she would be needing stationary and cards while she was away and so I made this for her as a little going away gift. I hope she liked it!
I wanted to keep the set simple, and I wanted to use the Bella Rose DSP from Stampin Up. I was so excited for this paper to come out and have used it a TON! I love the way the Kiwi Kiss, Red Riding Hood, and Chocolate Chip colors go together. I packaged the cards together in this acetate box from Papertrey.

Here's a quick look at all the cards a little more up close...
For this first one I just layered my DSP onto Kiwi Kiss cardstock, I used the vanilla taffeta ribbon, and tied on one of these thankyou charms~ I am not sure where the charm came from, something I found in my stash!
And here is the other card, I embellished with some American Crafts ribbon, and a little brad from SEI all other products were Stampin Up.
As I mentioned both cards were pretty simple, to finish off the set I stamped the envelopes to coordinate. I thought the set turned out nice...Thanks for stopping by!

Stamp Night!

The second Thursday of every month is "Stamp Nite" at my house! My club girls come and we make a variety of projects. This month we did two cards.
I loved the pocket card from this POST so much, I decided to have it be one of our projects. We started with 4x4 Kiwi Kiss base and layed some of the great new Halloween paper (Ghostly Greetings) onto it, the accent cs is Pumpkin Pie and Basic Grey. We used images from
Batty For You, to make the circle piece first we stamped in versamark ink and embossed in with black EP, and then stamped the image again in Pumpkin Pie using the 1" circle punch, punched out the pumpkin and popped it out with some dimensionals.
For our next card we used Pocket Silhouettes, (which is ON SALE until the end of this month, you can even buy it ON-LINE!) We used Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point, and Baja Breeze cs. We stamped on the Pacific Point piece with white stazon, and popped out the center piece using the new Scallop Square punch and dimensionals. We finished off the card with a little clip~ I love those little library clips don't you! Thanks for stopping by!

Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge

Hi!!
So I am finally playing along with Beate's WSC!! I am so proud that I actually did it, she has such amazing sketches and as usual (for me) I look at them a think I'll make a card, and then get distracted with life and the card never gets made. But Saturday night my husband and son went to a football game and I got in a little stampin time! I actually have a few projects to show, but for now...here is my take on Beates challenge. I wish I had a cute Halloween sentiment, but all the ones I had were too big, or didn't fit the "look", oh well I liked it anyway and I hope you do too!

Don't you just LOVE those shoes?? I picked up that stamp last year at Michael's in their dollar bin, I colored in the tights with my aqua-painters using Tangerine Tango and Elegant Eggplant. I add some sparkle to the buckles with my Celery Cosmo glitter. I stamped the other images (from Autumn Apparitions) in Basic black. I swiped all the edges of my cardstock across my black ink to give just a little bit of a sponged look. I really like how the Elegant Eggplant, Tangerine Tango, and Wild Wasabi (anyone else missing this color?) worked together!

LOL Hopefully this means a good chance to stamp... I do have some new cards to show soon (we had STAMP NITE last night!) but I still need to take the pictures, but its not a total loss because here is a chance to win a little somethin' from a fellow blogger! Check out Li'l Buck's Creations for your chance to win, and please make sure she knows who sent you!! Thanks for stopping by!!

KWerner Color Challenge #22

Wow...now this presented way more of a challenge than I originally thought~ The inspiration picture was great...love that curtain, but I sat with the papers and ink in front of me~and no mojo flyin...finally this is what I came up with. I added just a little Tangerine Tango~oops not one of the colors listed, but definately in the photo so it should kind of count..right?? :)
Anyway here's my card, thanks for stopping by!

2 Sketches 4 You!

Happy Wednesday!
I can't believe its the middle of the week already...this week has FLOWN by for me! Tomorrow its stamp nite once again and I am hardly prepared! I'd better get busy...Today I have two cards for you, have you check out 2 Sketches 4 You? Its a fun blog I stumbled upon last week and decided to play along, they have lots of great projects and inspiration so check it out! Here is my take on the sketches..I am loving all the new Halloween projects, papers, and embellishments I am seeing lately!

This card was really easy, I embossed the Boo stamp ( from Autumn Apparitions I think, it is a Stampin Up set that was in the Holiday Mini last year) and then layered my papers according to the sketch, I decided to use the buttons for the circle element in the sketch!
I was really happy with how this next card turned out...I loved this sketch, I never think to add tags to my cards! I took the two pictures so you could see where it fit in...SO FUN! Anyway for this card, I used Elegant Eggplant, Kiwi Kiss, and Summer Sun cs that happened to coordinate really well with the new Halloween line from SEI~ You've got to check them out..so cute! Thanks for stopping by! Check back later for my take on Kristina Werners color challenge this week, I think this is going to be somewhat tough for me, but I am going to give it a try!

Pocket Silhouettes

Hello!
Are you enjoying your weekend?? Hopefully you are! I have been busy working on some challenges and projects so I'll have somethings to post, but I did have a card to share today. The picture is a little dark, but the colors look great IRL. I hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by..
I made this card by stamping the image from Pocket Silhouettes (don't you just love this set?) in Chocolate Chip ink on Very Vanilla cs, I layered it on Chocolate Chip cs and layered that onto Pink Pirouette and Kiwi Kiss which I made using THIS TEMPLATE I sponged the edges just a little with my Chocolate Chip ink, the background polka dot piece came from the Chocolate Chip DSP I just go from Stampin Up! If you haven't seen these papers yet they come in a variety of colors you can check them out on my Stampin Up Website! Finally I embellished with a few light pink dew drops, adhered with Tombow Mono Adhesive.

Another Layout...

Here's another layout...I am not 100% satisfied with it, but oh well. It seems a little plain, but for some reason I am struggling with my scrapbooking lately. But I'm trying~and that should count for something right??? :)
Thanks for stopping by!

Kristina Werner Color Challenge #21

I always plan on playing with Kristina's color challenges, but always run out of time~or just don't get around to it~ But today I had to make a card for a cute neighbors 3rd birthday party. I thought Kristina's color combo would be perfect for the occasion! Have you seen the newest birthday set in the Fall-Winter 2008 Idea Book and Catalog??? Party Hearty is SO fun! Thanks for stopping by!!!
This card starts with a Kiwi Kiss base, then I used Whisper white and stamped the word Celebrate in Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point, Regal Rose, and Rose Red. The cupcake image is stamped in Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss, and Regal Rose mounted onto a Regal Rose square. Finished off with some orange/goldish rhinestones-the flames for my candles!

Pop Up Card

Good Morning well I guess its almost afternoon, but Hi just the same!
So have you had a chance to try one of these "pop up cards" if not....you should! They are not too hard to put together, and I think are so fun! I should have taken and image of the card laying flat, but oh well...You can find a great tutorial for this card on SCS. I love this image from the Floral Frenzy set I got from Papertrey... The ribbons, and felt flowers come from Stampin Up and the paper is something I picked up who knows when, but I liked the colors and it fit the look I was going for! I hope you like it, thanks for looking!!

Simple Thanks!

Hi!
How's your Tuesday going?? I have a quick card to show you today, SO simple to make. It uses one of my favorite sets, Much Appreciated, which is sadly now retired, but the new set, "Thank You Kindly"...oooh I am going to need that one! I love the look of the Swiss Dots embossing template~ it adds such a great texture, and the Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon is one of my faves. I probably should have trimmed my bow a little more even, but oh well...sometimes you "get what you get!" Thanks for stopping by....

Saturday Scrappin!

Happy Monday!

So this weekend I was finally able to squeeze in sometime to scrapbook...something it seems there is never any time to do! Although I haven't quite figured out how to scan, or photo 12x12 pages the way I want...Hopefully you'll enjoy these two layouts.

This first layout still needs some journaling and a title added. But I like it so far!

I was happy how this layout turned out, I love the bright colors in Cosmo Crickets, Cogsmo line.

Thanks for looking!!

Finally some new things to post...

I have finally gotten around to loading some pictures onto my computer, so I have some new cards to show. These are the three cards we did for our August Stamp Club.
This first card is cased from one in the August Stampin Success. I love the new In Colors! The scallop punch is also a new favorite!

I also love these new lazer cut cards...so easy to make a beautiful card! For this card, we used the brayer with Kiwi Kiss, and then embossed with whisper white over the top. I like the uneven color of the brayed background, kindof shabby chic???

I have seen a few cards using vellum as a cup and I was excited to put my twist on it. There is a tutorial on SCS, give it a try! On this last card we embossed again~ the sentiment, but also the brads at the bottom. Have you ever embossed on brads? I was excited to share that new technique, one I often forget about, but works great to use materials on hand to coordinate with different projects. And so easy! Just dip your brad in Versamark Ink, sprinkle with embossing powder and heat! Just make sure you have tweezers or something to hold onto your brad-it gets hot!

I hope my Stamp Girls had fun, and I hope you like the projects too!! Thanks for looking!
